Written Guides: Blog Importer

Thanks to Webiva’s blog importer, switching your blog from Wordpress to Webiva has never been easier!

Note: If you don’t have a Wordpress blog, at step 5, import your RSS feed by pasting in the address of your feed, rather than using the Wordpress import feature.

  1. If you’ll be using the same free Wordpress theme or other theme you’ve purchased, use the Webiva Theme Builder to import your theme. For more directions on how to do that, take a look here.

  2. If you’ve built a site yourself, you’ll want to create a blank theme (Options -> Themes -> Add a blank theme), and upload your HTML & CSS files.

  3. You’ll need to activate the blog module if you already haven’t done so: go to Options, then Modules, then activate Blog and Feedback.

  4. Now, it’s time for the import itself. Click on the Content tab, select Blog (or whatever you named it), and then on the blog page, click more actions. You’ll see a blue arrow icon next to Import Entries. Click on that, which will take you to the Importing page.

  5. The easiest way to do this for Wordpress blogs is to go to the bottom of the page (where it says Import Wordpress Blog), then enter in the URL of your blog and your username/password for Wordpress.

  6. Hit submit, and let Webiva work its magic!

Chances are, you’ll want/need to mess with some of the formatting and styling, especially if you have a new theme that you’re applying to your blog. Don’t worry, this process won’t erase your old Wordpress blog, although you might want to put one final post redirecting everyone to your brand new blog on Webiva!
