Written Guides: Breadcrumbs
For a user, knowing where they are in a multi-level website or set of pages on a website is a really nice feature and Webiva fully supports this.
For the most part, you’ll utilize breadcrumbs in frameworks, to make the trail visible across multiple pages, but even if you just need to show ‘I am Here’, the breadcrumbs paragraph will work the same way, We’ll look at adding a breadcrumb and then changing its style in just a few short steps.
Set up
In your site tree:
- Drag a new page on your root.
- Name the new page BC1
- Drag a new page onto BC1
- Name the new page BC2
- Drag a new page onto BC2
- Name the new page BC3
Edit the Framework
- Drag a framework modifier onto your root.
- Click on the framework
- Click Edit Framework
- Click the Add Paragraph icon
- Scroll to Navigational Paragraphs -> Add Bread Crumbs
- Click an orange section to add the paragraph somewhere on your page
- Set the root page to /
-
Save the page
-
Enter the URL for your site plus BC3, like www.webiva.net/bc1/bc2/bc3
-
On your page you should see something similar to
Bc1 > Bc2 > Bc3
Change the BreadCrumb style
If you don’t happen to like the using > as arrows, that’s ok, you can change the style of your bread crumb. Once you have created this new breadcrumb style, you can use it universally on your site, or perhaps it’s special for a certain few pages. 1.
