Building a site that offers services?

Hi,

I came across Webiva today and impressed thus far. I am study and have a basis in rails but am by no means a seasoned pro. I am interested in developing a site that members can register their services and other members can then search for members whom match their criteria.

I know how to do this with your standard rails app, but is it possible to incorporate this into Webiva? I thought I would ask around here first, for some feedback.

Regards,
Nate

Hi Nate,

Yes you can do this – you can extend Webiva to do just about anything you like – if you want to get a sense of what developing with Webiva means, you can take a look at:

http://www.webiva.net/doc/developer/module-tutorial-user-polling—rating

Alternatively, you could cajole the Custom Content model system to build something like that without Rails development, but there’s not a lot a documentation related to that.

Great, that is what I was hoping to hear!

Thanks Pascal, seems like you have a good thing going here and are very active with backing it up, it is nice to see.

Nate

Dear Pascal, how are you? I’m from Argentina and I have a question for you regarding Webiva. Here goes:)

Our software development team created a game “Prodebook” with Ruby on Rails / PostgreSQL. Since its inception in 2010, the game is on Facebook (apps.facebook.com / prodebook), but now moved most of it in a website based on Joomla CMS (used in other projects and running PHP / MySQL); the portal is www.prodebook.com.

For this reason, I am looking for a CMS to unify the users of my application and methods of access to Facebook, Twitter, Orkut, etc. with all the facilities to create a community.

We want to build a community of football fans throughout the game that allows us to fulfill our business strategy. Webdiva could be used for that purpose?

Thanks for your attention and congratulations for the application!
