How Stable is the Rails3 Branch

I’m hosting several sites on my server, and on one I’m thinking of using Spree Commerce, which requires rails3. I’ve seen at least one aritcle online about how to run both rails2 and 3 concurrently, but I don’t want to deal with that…

So, I’m wondering if I should transition my current Webiva install to the Rails3 version…

Do you recommend? If so, are there any pitfalls I should be aware of?

Hi Jerry,

Unfortunately the Rails3 branch hasn’t gotten as much attention in the past couple months as it should have – I’m running it on cykod.com and a couple other sites, but there still some interface issues and it’s not production ready.

Right now, I’m testing/using Webiva internally, so (minor) interface issues aren’t necessarily a deal breaker. How would you characterize the interface issues?

How far along before you’d feel comfortable calling it production ready?

I’m testing the current source on a development machine, but am having issues running the spec server. (I don’t have the exact error on hand). Should it work out of the box, or would I need to do some tweaking to get the test server running (or simply install another webserver on my machine and have it serve my local rails3 version of Webiva so I can test it…?).

Thanks for your help and the work, I can’t stress all the things I dig about the project.

Hey, thought I’d check in about the Rails3 branch’s stability, since it’s been a few months since I asked…

How are things going with the project?

Hi Jerry,

Unfortunately other Rails projects have taken us off Webiva in the past few months so it hasn’t moved along (although it is running cykod.com now)
